GE Energy is pleased to announce that the GE Power & Water Engineering Division Strategic Project Management Office, Thermal Engineering’s Project Management Office, and Thermal’s Monitoring and Diagnostics Center have finalized plans to acknowledge our very valuable Program/Project Managers on Thursday, November 1, 2012 for International Project Management Day. This is the first year that we’ve sponsored special IPM Day activities but we’re sure that it will not be the last. Our combined GE divisions have ~400 PMs located all throughout the US, Mexico, UK, India, and other countries.
As we promote IPM Day, we are currently running a contest where, in the spirit of Jeff Foxworthy, contestants can submit practical or humorous observations about the true nature of Project Managers. For example, “You Might be a Project Manager if… You schedule dinner in Microsoft Project and actually have your spouse resource loaded from planning through delivery!” Ten winners will be selected and announced on IPM Day while Program/Project Managers have opportunities to attend training sessions (worth 1 PDU each), panel discussions, and brain teasers on PM-related topics.
